I just received two new books tonight thanks to Amazon Prime. Dahlias are my absolute favorite and I’m really intrigued by mums. I was sad to see that Pat Stockett Johnston passed away recently on the National Chrysanthemum Societies Facebook page. She seemed to really love Chrysanthemums! It’s hard to find a lot of resources on mums so this was a great find.
Just picked up The Cook’s Herb Garden by Jeff Cox & Marie-Pierre Moine at Barnes & Noble this weekend. I’m always looking for ways to make the most of my garden and my plan is to grow a lot of herbs this year. Great information and great pictures. I love the oil & herb recipes and the ice cube herb recipes. Definitely a new favorite!
Mr. Peaches is not impressed by my new book.
I’m in love with this wonderful book! The Flower Farmer’s Year by Georgie Newbery. Here is the Common Farm blog – The story of a cut flower patch that just grew and grew.
I’m a big fan of “Pioneer Woman” the cooking show and Ree Drummond’s blog. I thought I should probably go ahead and order one of her books so that I start making all of the wonderful meals she makes on TV! I enjoy seeing the photos she takes of her family, her food and her ranch!
I hit the cut flower book jackpot recently and found this book “The Cut Flower Patch – Grow your own cut flowers all year round” by Louise Curley. Photography by Jason Ingram. Amazing book! The author is from the UK so if you live in the US (like me) the dates and seasons are off a bit. It still has a lot of great information that you can use anywhere.
Paper to Petal by Rebecca Thuss and Patrick Farrell with a forward by Martha Stewart. 75 Whimsical Paper Flowers to Craft by Hand. This book has so many great ideas for making paper flowers! The instructions and details are put together perfectly. Beautiful photos and tons of inspiration!
Modern Calligraphy. “Everything you need to know to get started in script calligraphy plus 20 DIY projects for weddings, parties, blogs and more.” By Molly Suber Thorpe. I have only found one calligraphy book that was written about the modern style of calligraphy that I prefer. This is a beautiful book with lots of beautiful images, inspiration and it’s full of things to practice!
