Christmas Plants

I love incorporating Christmas themed plants into my holiday decorating. This year I ended up with two Christmas cacti, two poinsettias and several paper white bulbs! So fun to have new fresh green plants around for the holidays. I got some of the plants at Canoyer Greenhouse in Griswold, Iowa at their holiday open house! It was a fun event held on the weekend of Small Business Saturday with wine tasting, cheese samples, beautiful home decor and so many plants! I will definitely be attending again next year.

This is the beautiful poinsettia I purchased at Canoyers.

My boyfriend stopped and got me another poinsettia for my birthday with an ISU theme!

Goode’s Greenhouse Stop

I was in Des Moines for work yesterday so I had to make a quick stop at Goode’s Greenhouse. Oh my how I LOVE this place. After I saw these blooming dahlias and this ZZ plant (that I’ve had my eye on for a while) I just had to have them!

Spring Howell’s Dried Florals and Greenhouse Visit Part 1

Stopped in at Howell’s in Cumming, IA because I was in Des Moines for work this week. That farm is absolutely beautiful this time of year! Tons of plants and cute decor, plus goats!

This guy ended up coming home with me. IMG_1123 IMG_1124 IMG_1126 IMG_1127 IMG_1134 IMG_1142 IMG_1148 IMG_1149 IMG_1150 IMG_1151 IMG_1153 IMG_1180j

And who doesn’t LOVE goats? (besides my boyfriend)

Two Days of Greenhouses

I had to travel to Des Moines last night for work so I headed over early to have lunch with my mom and spend the afternoon together. We picked up my grandma and drove to all of the greenhouses we could find in Des Moines. Our first stop was Earl May in Ankeny, then we went to Goode Greenhouse in Des Moines (my favorite!), then we stopped at the new Canoyer Greenhouse in Grimes before hitting Piney Ridge Greenhouse in Johnston. Such a fun day that I am sure we will be talking about for a while!

This morning (back in SW Iowa) I got up early and continued my greenhouse visits. My first stop was Sherbondy’s in Council Bluffs, then Indian Creek Nursery and Garden Center, then a quick stop at Sunrise Lawn & Garden before a found a new favorite, Lanoha Nurseries.

Here are some photos I took at Lanoha Nurseries.

I am always looking for new nursery/greenhouse to visit in Omaha because I’ve been to Mulhalls too many times already this year. Do you know of any more?
